Releasing
And
Yielding
Earthly
Restraints
While our flesh (body, soul) has to traverse this earth, our spirits can be free to sore in heavenly realms.
There are different types of prayer. There is a time and need for intercession. There is also a time and need for refreshing/ restorative prayer. This is the type of prayer we will focus on here.
Prayer is our allowing our spirit to rise above the restraints of this world and meet face to face with our creator. It is our opportunity to release our worries, fears, anxieties, and struggles into the hands who created the universe. Into the hands that formed and fashioned us uniquely, individually, in our mother's womb.
Prayer is our spirit being transported into the heavenly realm where fear, worries, doubt, etc. don't exist.
Prayer is our getting so focused on Jesus that the things of earth grow dim. Our hearts can be at rest and peace as we commune with our Savior.
A. Our prayer time must begin with worship. Honoring God simply for who he is. Psalm 96:9 "Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.Let all the earth tremble before him."
B. Next we give all our cares to The Lord.
Psalm 55:22 "Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall." 1 Peter 5:7 "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."
We do this by listing for him
everything that is burdening us. Just tell God what you are carrying. (This is not a time to pray about each need but simply laying the entire bundle at his feet.). By giving them to God we are freed to receive what he has for us without bringing concerned about our needs/cares.
C. As we continue we thank God for his blessings in our lives. (Often the blessings are also things/people we just gave him to care for.) Take a few minutes to reflect on your life and allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of the things God has done for you or the blessings he has provided.
Psalm 107:8 "Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them."
D. Our next step is listening. We ask the Lord to speak to us and we quiet our minds to hear. Writing down what we hear will allow us to return to that Word over and over. Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God!I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
1. Begin by rebuking the enemy and the spirit of distraction.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you only hear what comes from God.
3. Quiet your mind and listen.
E. Finally we end with a time if worship. Praising the Lord for his refreshing and restoration.
